چکیده

Visual cryptography is an increasingly popular cryptographic technique which allows for secret sharing and encryption of sensitive data. This method has been extended and applied to secure biometric data in various protocols. Recently, Karabina and Robinson proposed a general framework to help assess the security of these extended biometric visual cryptographic schemes (e-BVC), and formalized the notion of perfect resistance against false authentication [13]. In this paper, we extend the framework in [13] with respect to indistinguishability and index privacy notions. Based on our definitions, we present theoretical analysis of e-BVC schemes and propose new attack strategies. We show that our framework can be applied to derive quantitative security analysis of e-BVC schemes. We discuss the practical impact of our attacks in detail and present several case analysis for a recent implementation of a face recognition protocol by Ross and Othman [21]. In particular, we conclude that the scheme in [21] is not secure with respect to

Development of a Unique Biometric-based Cryptographic Key Generation with Repeatability using Brain Signals

Network security is very important when sending confidential data through the network. Cryptography is the science of hiding information, and a combination of cryptography solutions with cognitive science starts a new branch called cognitive cryptography that guarantee the confidentiality and integrity of the data. Brain signals as a biometric indicator can convert to a binary code which can be...

A Novel Retina based Biometric Privacy using Visual Cryptography

Biometrics deal with automated methods of identifying a person or verifying the identity of a person based on physiological or behavioral characteristics. Preserving the biometric privacy such as digital biometric data (eg. face, iris, retina and fingerprint) is very important nowadays. The retinal biometrics is considered one of the most accurate and robust methods of the identity verification...

Secure Iris Authentication Using Visual Cryptography

Biometrics deal with automated methods of identifying a person or verifying the identity of a person based on physiological or behavioral characteristics. Visual cryptography is a secret sharing scheme where a secret image is encrypted into the shares which independently disclose no information about the original secret image. As biometric template are stored in the centralized database, due to...

Securing Database of Biometric Systems

In cyberspace security of private data is a prominent issue. Beside the reliable algorithm for automatic authentication, providing the security of the server database is considerable. In this paper a technique to secure the database of an iris-based biometric system is proposed. We employed visual cryptography, permutation and a block-based saving procedure to protect the template from maliciou...
